Pakistan on Thursday escalated tensions after it launched loitering munitions targeting areas in Jammu.

In response, Indian Air Defence units engaged immediately, with anti-aircraft guns actively firing to neutralise the incoming threats.

According to News 18, missiles from Pakistan were directed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia and were intercepted by air defence units.

Pakistani drones were also intercepted by Indian air defence in Jaisalmer where explosions can be heard, and flashes in the sky can be seen.

According to ANI, a complete blackout has been enforced in Jammu including Akhnoor, Kishtwar, and Samba and sirens are being heard.

A blackout was also enforced in Gujarat districts, including Abdasa, Nakhtrana, Bhuj, Mandvi , Bhachau and Kutch.

Defence sources said India was aware of such an attempt and it is fully prepared to thwart these attempts from the Pakistani side.

“Though it’s an evolving situation but we have neutralised all threats coming from Pakistan. So far eight projectiles mostly surface of surface missiles have been shot down by our air defence mechanisms,” News 18 quotes defence sources as saying.

The attack comes hours after India foiled Pakistan’s attempt to target 15 Indian cities.

While the border areas are under heavy shelling in Samba, Poonch and other sectors, Jammu was targeted with missiles and drones in an enormous escalation.

On Wednesday, India’s airstrikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
