British and US Forces Carry Out Airstrikes Targeting Houthis in Yemen | Firstpost America | N18G
The British military and US forces launched airstrikes targeting the Houthis in Yemen on April 29. The joint operation marked the United Kingdom’s first such involvement in America’s latest campaign against the Iranian proxy group that began in mid-March. British Defence Secretary John Healey offered a detailed explanation for the strikes, emphasising the drop in shipping in the Red Sea that has cost billions of dollars, all because of Houthi attacks. According to the UK defence ministry, the strikes targeted a cluster of buildings south of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. The UK had also taken part in airstrikes alongside the US when former president Joe Biden launched an operation targeting the Houthis in January 2024.
