India on Thursday slammed Pakistan for giving state funerals to terrorists and accused the neighboring country of glorifying terrorists who were killed in India strikes across nine terror hideouts as part of Operation Sindoor.
“… It’s also odd that funerals of civilians are being carried out by coffins wrapped in their national flag, and state honours are being awarded…,” said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during a press briefing on Wednesday.
“.. As far as we are concerned, the individuals eliminated at these facilities were terrorists. Giving terrorists state funerals, maybe a practice in Pakistan…,” he added.
Misri, displaying a photograph from the funeral, highlighted the presence of uniformed Pakistani Army and police personnel praying behind the coffins of the slain terrorists, questioning the message such an image sends.
He also pointed out that, in one instance, a member of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was seen leading the funeral prayers.
