Whoa! What happened there? The series of abandoned matches is increasing by the day, isn’t it? Also, to come so close to the playoffs stage, is really heartbreaking. Yes, heartbreaking for KKR. Because, if the MI-DC game has a result on 15th May, 2025, then KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS WILL BE KNOCKED OUT. It is a tough scenario for Ajinkya Rahane and co, that they had to fight nature and now electricity! But it is, what it is.

Sigh. That ends the action from this game. Punjab stay on third spot, but move to 16 points, while Delhi too, stay on 5th, but move to 14 points. Next up in the Indian Premier League 2025, Lucknow Super Giants will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. LSG will be looking to end their three-match losing streak and keep their playoff hopes alive, while RCB, sitting in second place with 16 points, will aim to continue their strong run despite injury setbacks and become the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs. The match is set to start at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) on 9th May, 2025, but our pre-match buildup will begin much earlier. So do join in early. See you!

Escape from jail for Delhi Capitals? The Punjab Kings did get off to a flying start but it was mostly due to some inconsistent bowling from the Capitals. Barring T Natarajan, everyone looked out of sorts and just sprayed the ball around. Maybe, because the outfield was damp, the ball was getting wet and difficult to control. Surprisingly, Natarajan bowled just one over in his first spell. However, he made an immediate impact when brought back into the attack, breaking the opening stand. Maybe, that was the moment DC could have come back but unfortunately, a power failure brought play to a halt, and the players couldn’t return to the field.

Coming to the match, there was a delay of around an hour, due to the conditions around. There was rain during the day which delayed the game but when it stopped and play got underway, Punjab Kings got things going pretty swiftly. They went hammer and tongs after the Delhi Capitals bowlers, smashing 69 in the Powerplay, without losing a wicket. The uncapped openers put on a show, adding 122 for the opening wicket and when the partnership was broken, that’s when the match got halted. Priyansh Arya took the game head on and smashed another half century, his second this season, this one in just 25 balls. At one stage, he had nearly double the runs of what Prabhsimran Singh had scored before the wicketkeeper batter started to get going. In a way, tough luck for Shreyas Iyer as well, as yet another game does not allow his side to play 40 overs. A win here would have got them officially qualified but because they get 1 point, they need at least a win or a no result to get that ‘Q’ against their name.

After opting to bat, the Punjab Kings got off to a flying start. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh made the most of some inconsistent bowling from Delhi Capitals, finding the boundary regularly and building early momentum. Skipper, Shreyas Iyer, is in at number 3. Oh, wait on! One of the floodlight towers has gone off. Meanwhile, KL Rahul is having a chat with one of the on-field umpires. While the floodlights are being monitored, the physio is out for Prabhsimran Singh and he is being helped with some stretches. And as per the live visuals, only one of the floodlight towers is on right now. Also, the players have walked off the field now.

10.1 – OUT! TAKEN! T Natarajan breaks through on his return to the attack! Wonder why he was taken off after a tidy first over. Natarajan starts from over the wicket and bangs it into the deck whilst taking pace off, on off, Priyansh Arya goes for the pull but gets a top edge that goes onto hit him on the helmet and balloons towards short third where Madhav Tiwari takes a dolly. The crowd rise as one to applaud a special knock from Arya. Priyansh falls for 70 (34). Punjab Kings are now 122/1.

9.6 – Pulls the length back, drifting on the pads, worked wide of long on for a single.
May 8, 2025, 21:23:07 (IST)

Halt! Prabhsimran Singh is down with seemingly a hamstring issue. The physio is out to have a look. After a few stretches, Singh is back up on his feet.
May 8, 2025, 21:22:33 (IST)

9.5 – FIFTY FOR PRABHSIMRAN SINGH! His 8th in the IPL and fifth consecutive fifty in this season! Flatter and on a length, around the leg stump line. Prabhsimran Singh hangs back and turns it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
May 8, 2025, 21:21:42 (IST)

Halt!
May 8, 2025, 21:20:41 (IST)

9.4 – FOUR! Neatly played! Just drifting outside off, on a yard behind fuller length, Prabhsimran Singh goes deep inside the crease and cuts it to the right of the diving point fielder for a classy boundary.
May 8, 2025, 21:20:14 (IST)

9.3 – In the air…lands safe! Drags the length back, on top of the stumps, Priyansh Arya hangs back and goes for a pull shot, but ends up slicing it over mid on. It lands safe and a single taken.

May 8, 2025, 21:19:43 (IST)

The ball has been lost and the fourth umpire is out with the box of balls. We are ready to resume.
May 8, 2025, 21:18:26 (IST)

9.1 – SIX! Goodness me! That is on the roof! Lands it fuller, does Kuldeep, around off and middle, Priyansh Arya shimmies down the track, swings through the line, and sails it over long on for a 96-meter towering six. That was six the moment he hit it.
May 8, 2025, 21:17:47 (IST)

9.1 – Six!
May 8, 2025, 21:17:11 (IST)

8.6 – Good save from Chameera in the deep there! Slower delivery outside off, on a fullish length, Prabhsimran Singh lets the ball arrive and cuts it along the ground, to the left of deep point. Dushmantha Chameera runs across, dives, and stops the ball. Two taken. Another expensive over for DC, 14 runs off it.
May 8, 2025, 21:16:06 (IST)

8.5 – The 100 is up for Punjab Kings! Back of a length, angling across, Prabhsimran Singh leans back and cuts it wide of backward point for a couple of quick runs.

May 8, 2025, 21:14:51 (IST)

8.3 – OUTSIDE EDGE, FOUR! Outside off, too full, Prabhsimran Singh tries to loft it over the off side, but gets a thick outside edge and the ball goes on the bounce to deep third for a boundary.
May 8, 2025, 21:13:59 (IST)

8.2 – Speared in fuller, on off, Priyansh Arya heaves off the inner half of the bat, along the ground to deep mid-wicket for another single.

May 8, 2025, 21:13:17 (IST)

7.6 – Slowish delivery, on middle, Priyansh Arya waits for it on the back foot and taps it to the left of the bowler. Another over that goes for 10 runs. 20 off the last two for PBKS!
May 8, 2025, 21:11:28 (IST)

7.5 – FOUR! Arya is making merry here at Dharamsala!
May 8, 2025, 21:10:54 (IST)

Today IPL match LIVE Score, PBKS vs DC scorecard: Punjab Kings host Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday hoping to move back to the top of the 2025 Indian Premier League points table with a victory. Should they end up on the winning side, PBKS will also be aiming to assure themselves of a place in the playoffs with a win, which will take their points tally to 17.

The upcoming match, on the other hand, will be crucial for Delhi Capitals to keep their playoff hopes alive. DC currently are fifth on the points table with six wins, four defeats and a No Result, and a victory will take them past the fourth-ranked Mumbai Indians and potentially even past PBKS on the table.

That, however, will be easier said than done for a team that has lost four out of its last six matches after winning five on the trot at the start of the season.
