Mumbai Indians’ star player Suryakumar Yadav has made history by becoming the fastest Indian to score 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He reached this amazing milestone in just 2714 balls during MI’s match against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025 on Sunday. Suryakumar has been in outstanding form this season and he showed it once again.
SKY surpasses Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma
In doing so, he went past big names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Now, in the all-time list, he is third fastest to 4000 runs in IPL, only behind AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. De Villiers and Gayle both got there in 2658 balls. After Suryakumar, the next fastest are David Warner (2809 balls) and Suresh Raina (2881 balls).
Suryakumar, who is now 34 years old, needed only 33 runs before the match to complete 4000 runs. He achieved it by hitting a stylish boundary off Avesh Khan in the 13th over. This was his 160th IPL match and 145th innings. He scored 54 off 28 balls to help MI post a mammoth target on the board against LSG.
In his career so far, SKY has scored 2 centuries and 27 half-centuries, with a superb strike rate of over 147. Among Indian players with more than 4000 IPL runs, Suryakumar has the best strike rate. Overall, only AB de Villiers (151.68) and Chris Gayle (148.96) have better strike rates in the 4000-run club.
