Indian pacers in demand on Day 2 of IPL 2025 Auction

With the second and final Day of the 2025 Indian Premier League mega auction coming to an end in Jeddah, we take a look at some of the key takeaways

Capped Indian pacers lead the way on Day 2 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar earning the top bid at Rs 10.75 crore (RCB) followed by Deepak Chahar, who went to MI for Rs 9.25 crore

Other Indian pacers who bagged major deals were Mukesh Kumar (DC) and Akash Deep (LSG), who were bought at Rs 8 crore each, the former getting retained via RTM by the Capitals

The day also belonged to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old batter from Bihar who was bought  by RR at Rs 1.1 crore to become the youngest player in IPL history

While the youngest player in the auction bagged a deal, the same could not be said of the oldest player, with the legendary James Anderson finding no takers

Not all 40-year-old were rejected though, with ex-RCB skipper Faf du Plessis going to DC for Rs 2 crore

There were some other interesting developments, such as Sam Curran continuing to oscillate between PBKS and CSK by joining the ‘Yellow Army’ for Rs 2.4 crore

Ajinkya Rahane’s IPL career got an extension as he went back to KKR, the franchise he had previously captained, at his base price of Rs 1.5 crore

After welcome Trent Boult on Day 1, MI were especially elated at buying England’s Will Jacks for Rs 5.25 crore, which some describe as a steal given his skills

There were some major names overlooked on Day 2 of the auction, with Australia’s David Warner, England’s Jonny Bairstow and India’s Shardul Thakur the biggest among them
