Budget 2025: How much has each department been allocated?

Defence The Budget has allocated Rs 4.91 lakh crore for defence spending. The sector has seen an increase from last financial year’s Rs 4.54 lakh crore. 

Rural Development This year Rs 2.66 has been allocated to this sector, which was Rs 2.65 lakh crore in FY 2024-25. 

Home Affairs  The Home Affairs department has seen a massive increase in its expenditure with Rs 2.3 lakh crore in FY 2025-26. Last year it stood at Rs 1.50 lakh crore.

Commerce and industry This year the allocation has been set at Rs 65.55 crore in the Commerce and Industry sector. In the last fiscal year, it had been set at Rs 47,559 crore. 

Agriculture The agriculture sector has been allocated Rs 1.7 lakh crore. This has gone up from Rs 1.51 lakh crore in FY 2024-25. 

Health In the last fiscal year, the sector had been allocated Rs 89.28 crore while this year it has been increased to Rs 98,311 crore.

Social welfare The social welfare sector has been allocated Rs 60,052 crore while last year it had been allocated Rs 56,501 crore. 

Education This year the education sector has been allocated Rs 1.28 lakh crore while in the last financial year it had been Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

IT and Telecom In FY 2024-25, the finance ministry had allocated Rs 1.16 lakh crore while this financial year it has been allocated Rs 95,298 crore.
