India vs Ireland, FIH Pro League 2024-24 LIVE: The Indian men’s hockey team will be hoping to move up the FIH Pro League Standings when they face Ireland in back-to-back fixtures in Bhubaneswar, the first of which takes place on Friday.
The Craig Fulton-coached side currently are seventh in the nine-team table after playing four games – in which they have won two and lost as many. They are level on six points with Argentina, and occupy a higher spot on the table thanks to their superior goal difference.
Ireland, meanwhile, are yet to collect a win in four outings and currently sit at the bottom of the table with just one point to their name.
India had played their first game of the 2024-25 Pro League less than a week ago, suffering a 1-3 loss against Spain at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium last Saturday. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side would then bounce back against the Spaniards the following day, thanks to third-quarter goals by Dilpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh.
It was a similar story against Germany earlier this week – India lost the first fixture 1-4, only to bounce back with a 1-0 victory the next day.
The second meeting with Ireland will take place on Saturday. India then face England on Monday and Tuesday, which will be their final games at the iconic Kalinga Stadium this season.
India travel to Netherlands and Belgium in June for their remaining Pro League fixtures.
