India Cuts Water to Pakistan, Suspends Trade & Port Access | Vantage with Palki Sharma | N18G

Water levels in the Chenab River at Jammu’s Akhnoor area dropped below waist level for the first time in years, drawing surprised locals to the exposed riverbed. This follows the closure of all sluice gates at Salal and Baglihar dams in Reasi and Ramban districts, reportedly to store water after reservoir desiltation. India, having suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, now controls water flow to Pakistan. Key cities and crops are at risk. Trade, transport and postal links have also been cut. As tensions grow, Pakistan's lawmakers awarded themselves a pay hike.
