The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 has been hit by cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. Due to the ongoing situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to move the rest of the tournament to the UAE. The last eight matches of this year’s PSL were originally set to be played in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore.
PSL 2025 moved to the UAE
The issue started when the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings in Rawalpindi on 8 May was postponed because of the rising tensions at the border. After serious discussions with PSL stakeholders, the PCB made the call to shift the tournament for the safety and peace of mind of everyone involved.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the move was made to ensure the mental well-being of all players. “Like in the past, we hope that our stakeholders will rally with us to further the best interests of the tournament, our players and the fans. We are committed to ensuring that the league continues to thrive,” Naqvi said.
The new schedule for the remaining matches hasn’t been announced yet, but it is expected to be released soon.
IPL 2025 suspended for one week
This situation has come at a time when IPL 2025 has also been suspended due to the same cross-border conflict. On Thursday, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was stopped midway into the first innings. With nearby airports shut down, players and support staff were sent to Delhi on a special train arranged by the BCCI the next morning.
It was later revealed that the BCCI has suspended IPL 2025 for one week due to the ongoing Indo-Pak conflict. The new schedule and venues will be announced after a detailed discussion with all the stakeholders, including the franchises, players, broadcaster, and sponsors.
The ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan has escalated sharply following a series of cross-border attacks, including missile and drone strikes by Pakistan on Indian territories such as Jammu and Jaisalmer. Earlier, India launched Operation Sindoor to avenge the deaths of civilians killed in the Pahalgam attack on 22 April.
