All you need to know about Sunita Williams’ family

Sunita Williams’ husband Michael J The Indian-origin astronaut is married to Michael J Williams, a federal marshal in Texas.

Michael meets Sunita The two have been married for more than 20 years. The two met in 1987 at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where they flew military helicopters.

The couple’s children The two do not have biological children but are parents to three furry babies named Gunner, Bailey and Rotor.

Faith and cultural ties Michael is a practising Hindu. Sunita too has often been seen carrying sacred Hindu texts, including the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads along with a symbol of Om and a painting of Lord Shiva.

Sunita’s father The astronaut’s father, Deepak Pandya, hailed from Gujarat. He moved to the US after completing his MD in 1957. He completed his internship and residency in Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sunita’s mother Bonnie Pandya, Sunita’s mother, has  Slovenian roots and worked as a school secretary while raising Sunita and her siblings.

Siblings Sunita Williams has an older brother named Jay Thomas Pandya. He is a doctor by profession.
